About Cub Pow Wow

The development and operation of Cub Scouting was a high priority in Crescent Bay Area Council. Beginning in1953, an extensive one-day training program was developed for adult pack leaders.
The program was divided into five major areas: Pack Administration, Webelos Den, Crafts, Games, and Ceremonies. Each session was planned with a full program for the entire time, meaning that participants were not able to move around between sessions. The idea was to get as many leaders from each pack to attend, thereby allowing a pack to have coverage in each of the different areas.
Attendance at a Cub Pow Wow was one of the requirements for leaders to attain other awards including the Scouter's Key. Pow Wow's continued beyond Crescent Bay's merger with the San Fernando Valley Council in 1972 and into Great Western Council.
