Scout-O-Rama - Patches

jump to  >  100% Unit Awards    Buck Club

The annual Scout-O-Rama patch was typically the first non-rank patch earned by a Cub Scout
in Crescent Bay Area Council. Cubs and Scouts acquired the coveted patch and a special neckerchief slide,
by selling one booklet of ten tickets to the Scout-O-Rama. Each Scout-O-Rama promoted a different theme.

The Buck Club was established in the early 1960's to raise funds for Junior Leader Training, (initially called JLT), and then Polaris (after 1965). Anyone could buy an "I gave a Buck" ticket at Scout-O-Rama for a dollar, thereby becoming       a member of the Buck Club.
Once in the club, members  were entitled to unlimited refills at the Buck Club coffee pot for the weekend at Scout-O-Rama. A big Buck Club board was placed at the front of the booth where members could hang their mugs awaiting their next refill.
At some point in the 1960's, a patch was available to adult scouters who staffed the Buck Club booth. The patch was worn from the button of the left pocket flap.
