In 1945, Crescent Bay Council launched a new event called Scout-O-Rama. Unlike camporees, camp-o-rals and summer camps, the Scout-O-Rama was an  opportunity for non-scouts and the community-at-large to find out what Scouting was all about. From the Council's perspective, Scout-O-Rama was the perfect way to increase exposure, raise money and grow the local scouting program. Adult leaders were able to solicit sponsorships from local merchants while cubs and scouts sold Scout-O-Rama tickets. The proceeds went to fund the Crescent Bay operating budget with a portion going back to the local pack, troop, post and ship.
Scout-O-Rama started out as a District event and excepting for the Venice District S-O-R, was taken over by the Council in 1954.

Scout Executive's Message

1945, p. 1

F.Robert Hill's assessment of his major accomplishments in twenty years as Crescent Bay Scout Executive.
NOTE: As of the beginning of 1945, the Council had three Camps which included Camp Trefoil.
Also noteworthy is the reference to a "High Sierra Camp" which had not been named Camp Wolverton as of 1945.

During World War II, Crescent Bay Council had camping covered with a summer camp at Josepho,
a winter camp at Trefoil and an overnight camp at Slauson.

Scout Executive's Message

Silver Anniversary 1946*, p. 1

* NOTE: "Uncle" Bob Hill references that 1946 marked Crescent Bay Council's Silver Anniversary, having formed in February 1921. It has generally been considered that Crescent Bay Council began in 1922, which would have made the twenty-fifth anniversary in 1947. Bob Hill came to Crescent Bay in 1925 and was there close enough to the beginning to remember the actual starting date. It is more likely that the historical information was lost after Bob Hill left the Council in 1951 and that the founding of  Crescent Bay has erroneously been thought to be 1922 for all these years.

Appreciation and Camping Program
1946, p. 3

In 1946, Crescent Bay Council became one of the very few elite Councils in the country
offering three summer camps: Josepho, Emerald Bay and Wolverton. The program also offered
the Order of the Arrow and the annual Crescent Bay Council Camp-O-Ral at Chilao Flats in Angeles National Forest.

The tradition of awarding ribbons or streamers went way back in Crescent Bay Area Council.
Streamers were attached to the top each unit's flag pole.
