About Project S.O.A.R.

In 1971, the Boy Scouts of America embarked on a nation-wide conservation program. S.O.A.R stood for Save Our American Resources. The program encouraged local Councils to develop conservation activities, events and camporees. Crescent Bay Area Council became actively involved. S.O.A.R. awards were available when scouts completed participation in events that included:
          1. Keep America Beautiful Day; 2. S.O.A.R. Kick -off activity; 3. Unit conservation project; 4. the Council Conservation Camporee called the Ecol-O-Ree; 5. A summer conservation activity and 6. Youth conservation forums.
The S.O.A.R program continued for several years into the 1970's.
