Recognition Cards

The earliest Tamet Lodge certificates were awarded in the 1950's for service to the Lodge in different capacities. A special "card of recognition" was developed around 1951 and awarded by Lodge Chiefs to those individuals who had volunteered their time and efforts for the betterment of Tamet Lodge.

Troop & Unit Camping Awards

Tamet Lodge began sponsoring a camping award in 1950. Certificates were presented that allowed troops to mark camping activities by month. The name was changed to UNIT CAMPING RECORD in the late 1950's and the award ended in the early 1960's.

Order of the Arrow Award

1955

Prior to the development of Junior Leader Training (JLT) in 1957, Junior Leader Conferences (JLC) were conducted by the districts to assemble and train youth troop leaders. In the Mid 1950's, Tamet Lodge became involved with JLC and issued  awards. How long the Order of the Arrow JLC award was used, along with its requirements, are unknown.

Tamet Tokala
1966-72
Camp Josepho

In 1966, the members of Tamet Lodge embarked on a new three-day event that expanded on the previous Tamet Pow-Wow's of the early 1960's. The Tokala was patterned loosely around the Canalino Lodge no. 90 Sun Dance fellowship in Santa Barbara. Program and events included Indian lore, costuming and dancing. Arrowmen from all of California were invited.
Also included were competitions, trophies, awards, patch trading, swimming, archery, campfire and an Indian Pow-Wow Pageant. The event was well attended and Tamet Lodge repeated the Tokala each year thereafter (excepting 1969) until it merged with Walika Lodge in 1972. However, 1966 was the only three-day Tokala. In subsequent years, the event returned to a one day format, similar in many ways to the "Final Ordeal" meeting in 1951.

Area 12-E was organized in 1956 as result of dividing out the OA Lodges within Los Angeles & Ventura Counties from the rest of the Southern California Lodges. The first Area 12-E Conference was hosted by Tamet Lodge at Camp Josepho. Tamet awarded certificates to Lodge members that helped with the event.
