  1958-59

The addition of Circle B Scout Ranch to Crescent Bay Council in 1958 may have prompted a redesign of all of the council camp patches at the end of the 1950's.

Camp Josepho changed its mascot from a stylized Indian brave to an Indian Chief.

Backbone Trail Santa Monica Mountains

The Backbone Trail is a long distance trail extending 67.79 miles across the length of the Santa Monica Mountains. With the establishment of state parks in the mountains in the 1970's, a trail was envisioned stretching from Will Rogers State Historic Park,
to Point Mugu State Park, anchored in the middle by Malibu Creek State Park. During the 1980s, many who shared the vision started working on the project with California State Parks, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and the National Park Service.
These patches are not exclusive to the scouts but have been earned by many Crescent Bay District campers.

Original Artwork

1972 Patch

Originally designed as a 30th anniversary design,
the founding date is erroneously shown as 1942
instead of 1941. None-the less, this design with a
blue border and saying "Rustic Canyon" was used
without the dates for 1972.
(design by Frank Glick)
