1938 Pow Wow
Beverly Hills High School
December 3

The 1938 Pow Wow appears to have the same contests and competitions as previous years. Troop numbers return to the leather awards suggesting that awards were no longer given to individual patrols. As in 1937, the awards were pre-cut to look like ribbons but unlike any previous years, different colors were used to differentiate between first and second place. First place leathers were drawn with black and RED ink while second place leathers were drawn in black and GREEN ink.

District Pow Wows

Districts within Crescent Bay Council held their own District Pow Wows beginning in 1923. These initially served as preliminary events to decide who and which units would represent the District at the Council Pow Wow. The events were patterned after the original Council Pow-Wows with troop competitions in various scouting skills including Knot Tying, Morse Code, Water Boiling, Tent Pitching and others. Venice District Pow Wows have more documentation than Pow Wows from other Crescent Bay Districts and continued into the early 1950's, several years after the last documented Council Pow Wow in 1941.
