Leather Patches & Ribbons of the 1930's

In the decade of the Great Depression, spending money on professionally manufactured patches and awards was a luxury.
Hand drawn items on scrap leather could be made in very small quantities for almost no cost.

Standard Troop Grading

The Crescent Bay Council's
Troop grading program from the 1920's became integrated into the Camp-O-Rals when they began
in 1933. Standard Troop Grades were a big part of the Camp-O-Rals through the late 1930's.

1934 Camp-O-Ral & Pow Wow Scout Skill Leather Awards

1934 marked the one and only year the Pow Wow was combined with the Council Camporal on the same weekend.
Awards for the 1934 Pow Wow say "Camporal" on them, but they were awarded for the Pow Wow events.

Awards are stenciled with black ink. The contest name is stenciled with dark blue paint.
NOTE: While the awards say "Camporal". the Pow Wow and Camporal were the same event in 1934.
Paint from the event names have chipped away but indentations left behind revealing the events can be seen under magnification.
