Camp Emerald Bay - Hats
jump to hats from  >  Western Los Angeles County Council era

Camp Emerald Bay hats have been worn over the years by campers and staff.
Beginning in the early 1990's, baseball style caps have been available for sale in the camp trading post.

Late 1920's

The earliest known souvenir hat worn by Emerald Bay campers dates to the late 1920's. Known at the time as "dinks",
these popular items among teens and young boys were used at Scout camps around the country during the 1920's and 30's.

West Los Angeles County Council Era

The widespread use of Camp Emerald Bay hats seems to begin in the early 1990's. Some feature camp patches sewn to
a cap while others have a design directly embroidered. In some years, it is known that more than one style of cap was available.
It is not clear if multiple styles carried any significance (such as staff) or were simply offered to expand the merchandising line.
