Neckerchief Slides

Council Emblem & Camp Sales Items

Neckerchief slides with the Council emblem first appeared in the early 1960's. Prior to this time, the tradition in Crescent Bay Area Council was for each scout to carve or craft their own neckerchief slides. That began to change in the mid 1950's when plastic slides were first offered at Camps Emerald Bay and Wolverton. The Council also made plastic slides available for Scout-O-Rama.
The Crescent Bay emblem neckerchief slides were manufactured by Camp Sales
Co., owned by long time Crescent Bay Scouter, Glen Gordon. The slides were fabricated with a printed and embossed plastic disc about 1 ¼" across that was applied to a metal slide or other object. Most of the objects were used as promotional items by the professional staff.

Eagle Dinner Key Fobs & Souvenirs

Beginning in 1951, Crescent Bay Area Council's new Eagle Scouts from the previous year were invited to a special recognition dinner. Council officers , executives and business leaders were also invited. Prominent members of the community had an opportunity to mix with the new Eagle Scouts and make the local papers with a photo op in support of Scouting. These key fobs and other items were given to the Eagle Scouts as souvenirs of the event.
