Council Neckerchiefs

The tradition of individualized troop neckerchiefs for regular uniform wear goes all the way back to the beginning of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910. In general, Councils would not want to compete with the tradition of the troops by offering neckerchiefs that superceeded those of the individual units since a Scout's basic identity rested with the troop, not the Council. However, after World War II, neckerchiefs began to appear in Crescent Bay Council for a variety of Council-wide entities including Order of the Arrow; camp participation and staff; training and Council contingents to National and World Jamborees. The neckerchiefs shown here are thought to be Council insignia when representing Crescent Bay Council at Jamborees.
