Culver Palms District - Patches

        1946
Camporee Participation Award
January 5-6, Camp Josepho

Culver Palms was one of the oldest districts in Crescent Bay Council dating back to the mid 1930's. The boundaries encompassed Culver City, Palms, Baldwin Hills surrounding areas. The first camporee was a combined event with Venice District on May 10-11, 1941 at the Southwest Kennel Club Dog Track at Washington & Lincoln Boulevards. The first solo District camporee was held January 5-6, 1946 at Camp Josepho.
During most years, a camporee was held in the Spring and another in the Fall. For a brief period between 1955 and 1957, a third camporee in February was held celebrating Scout Week, the anniversary of the B.S.A. Culver Palms also participated in four "Council-Wide" camporees in 1946, 1953, 1960, & 1971.
NOTE: The majority of dates and locations for Culver Palms events have been reconstructed through detailed analysis of the Crescent Bay Council calendars published each month in the "Round-Up" council newsletter and the Crescent Bay Area Council news clipping scrapbook. In some cases, information listed in the calendars and scrapbook is missing or incomplete.
